Position Title | ASST DIR/CENTER FOR LEARNING THROUGH GAMES & SIMULATION |
Position Summary | The Assistant Director for the Center for Learning through Games and Simulations oversees responsibilities related to the Central Michigan University Press’ Scholarly Game Series. The Assistant Director is involved in creation of promotional materials and curriculum guides; overseeing manufacturing, fulfillment, and distribution of games; supporting crowd-funding campaigns; and maintenance of accounts on social media platforms. |
Required Qualifications | Bachelors degree. Knowledge of the board game market. Ability with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, particularly InDesign. Knowledge of copyright and licensing materials. Strong ability to work as part of a team. Some travel may be required. Ability to perform essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. |
Preferred Qualifications | One year of professional experience in game design and/or publication or related field. Experience playing tabletop games, including role playing, card, and board games. Experience in managing social media and social media campaigns. Experience with crowdfunding. Experience in game design. Experience with video games and the video game industry. Teaching experience. |
Duties & Responsibilities | Oversees global logistics and partnerships with manufacturing, fulfillment, and distribution partners, including contract coordination. Oversees the operations of crowdfunding campaigns. Manages royalties payments for contracted games. Creates layout for promotional materials and Curriculum Guides. Manages crowdfunding and social media accounts for the CLGS and Central Michigan University Press. Assists with game development. Supports the CLGS in recruitment and sales events. Organizes and participates in play testing of student and press games as needed. Supervises student workers. Other duties as assigned. |

About the Department | The Center for Learning through Games and Simulations at Central Michigan University promotes the use of games, simulations, and play in learning. The use of games facilitates an active-learning agenda with a high level of student engagement. The goal is to have the students learn course material while simultaneously building skills in leadership, public speaking, critical thinking, problem-solving and analysis. |
