ASST DIR/BENEFITS & WELLNESS

Assist with the daily administration of benefits and retirement programs, from point of vendor selection to implementation and management. Collaborates with the Director to sustain and promote benefit programs in support of the university’s strategic plan. Provides excellent customer service, researches new benefit programs and assists with improvement of existing programs, regulatory and policy compliance analysis and provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of benefit programs.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferably in human resources management or related field, or four years of professional experience in human resources, benefits, payroll, or a related field.
Two years professional experience in human resources, benefits, payroll, or a related field.
Effective written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrates ability to work with diverse clientele in a unionized environment.
Demonstrates competence in utilizing Microsoft Office products and standard business software applications.
Ability and willingness to establish and maintain positive interpersonal and project a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with benefits administration and regulatory requirements related to benefits.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Experience working with collective bargaining agreements.
Experience working with SAP/HR.
Professional certification such as PHR or SPHRCEBSCBPGBARPA, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities Assists with administration of health and welfare plans, retirement, and savings plans in compliance with federal and state regulations and university policies, procedures, collective bargaining agreements and handbooks.
Assists with vendor liaison activities such as resolution of benefit administration issues, bidding and renewal processes, and contracting and contract amendments.
Assists with research and resolution of coverage and administration issues, as well as regulatory and plan document compliance.
Assists with policy development, administration and record-keeping associated with benefit plans.
Coordinates and oversees annual open enrollment and associated workflow and communication to ensure enrollment processes are completed and systems updated by deadlines for new plan year.
Maintains updated benefits and retirement orientation presentations; coordinate and may conduct education programs related to benefits and retirement.
Coordinates projects related to benefits and retirement programs including research and recommendation of benefit program design changes or new programs, including assisting with implementation of approved changes. May include assisting with benchmarking key performance indicators for benefits plans, assisting in identifying potential strategies, and preparing summary information for management review.
Conducts and responds to surveys, compile survey data, and prepare draft summary for management review.
Assist with resolution of retirement issues and provide guidance to employees related to retirement processes and resources. Work with retirement plan recordkeeper, HR-SAP and payroll on mistake-in-fact refunds.
Assists with year-end liability tracking, reconciliation, and projection, work closely with CMU Financial Accounting/auditors.
May communicate and interpret benefit policies per collective bargaining agreements and employee handbooks.
May be responsible for coordination and administrative oversight of tuition benefit, discount programs, tax savings accounts and other programs as assigned.
Acts as a steward of benefits and retirement data, assuring integrity and compliance with protocols and policies.
Participates in regularly scheduled status meetings with benefit vendors and consultants to assist in administration of benefit and wellness programs.
Assists in developing wellness challenges, analysis of utilization data, and communications. May include access to administrative portals to assist in delivery of programs to employees and dependents.
Assists with administration and support of Health Care Committee including developing and sharing data, communications, documents, and reports, etc.
