Ladies Day Out Update

As we continuously strive to meet the needs of our downtown businesses, we recently assessed several of our events and promotional activities. One event under recent review was "Ladies Day Out.”

A survey distributed in November 2023 involved a modest, yet insightful group of ten respondents, who shared their perceptions of this specific event. While we cherish the tradition and the memories “Ladies Night Out” has created, feedback suggests that resources and efforts could be more impactful if channeled into new and innovative promotional strategies.

During the April 11, 2024, Merchant Meeting we examined the survey data. Amongst the mixed satisfaction levels from survey respondents, concerns regarding the expectation of freebies by event attendees, reduced business participation, and static attendance numbers despite increased marketing efforts, prompt us to rethink how we can best support our downtown area.

Considering this information and following today’s Merchant Meeting discussions, it has been decided that the "Ladies Day Out" event will be discontinued. Resources will be reallocated toward two targeted social media campaigns; one in May, which is “Small Business Month” and November, which features “Small Business Saturday” and is a kick-off to holiday season. These campaigns will be designed to promote the diverse offerings of our downtown businesses, encouraging community members to engage with and support them more consistently.

By extending promotional efforts across two entire months, the goal is to create a sustained buzz and enthusiasm that encourages patronage of all small businesses in the downtown area. We are confident that with your partnership, we can make these campaigns a resounding success.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely;

Michelle Sponseller
