Dow Championship Will Return to Midland Country Club June 23-29, 2025

MIDLAND, Mich., August 29, 2024 – Tournament officials announced today that the Dow Championship, the LPGA Tour’s annual signature team event, is set to return to Midland Country Club with tournament events taking place from June 23-29, 2025, and competition beginning Thursday, June 26.

The Dow Championship celebrated its fifth anniversary in June, with overwhelming support from community members and sponsors from across the Great Lakes Bay Region at this year’s tournament. Jeeno Thitikul and Ruoning Yin captured the fifth edition of the championship by one stroke in their first appearance together as a team.

“Over the past five years, we have experienced remarkable growth thanks to the unwavering support from our regional and national partners and sponsors,” said Carlos Padilla II, executive director of the Dow Championship. “Our strong foundation positions us well for continued expansion and growth, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead as we build on this success in the coming years.”

In January, the tournament unveiled its new name, the Dow Championship (previously the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational), celebrating the tremendous growth and stature the event has achieved in its first four years, while recognizing the event’s positioning as a champion for the entire Great Lakes Bay Region.

Also new for 2024 was a stunning tournament trophy designed by Tiffany & Co. The trophy, crafted with precision and adorned with intricate details, stands as a symbol of the dedication and passion of the LPGA Tour players on the golf course, capturing the essence of triumph and celebration.

The Dow Championship made its debut in 2019 as the first official team competition in LPGA Tour history. That same year, the tournament won LPGA Tournament of the Year – the first time this award was presented to a first-year tournament.

Also in 2019, the Dow Championship became the first event on the LPGA Tour to receive and retain full GEO® Certification for its sustainability efforts and was also the first-ever professional golf tournament to receive this recognition in its first year of operation. In 2021, the Dow Championship also became the first-ever event on the LPGA Tour to achieve carbon neutrality. Dow is the Official Sustainability Resource of the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour, offering the leagues and tournaments strategies and a blueprint to become General Business more sustainable.

Since its inception, the tournament brought an estimated $75 million in economic impact to the Great Lakes Bay Region and donated more than $2.5 million to local charities. In addition to the official LPGA tournament, the week-long event features many ancillary events and activities to engage the entire community, including the Eat Great Trail, an onsite STEM Center for kids and families, a youth golf clinic, and more.

The 2024 Dow Championship featured a $3 million purse, one of the highest tournament purses on the LPGA Tour outside of the major championships. The tournament is played in a 72-hole stroke play format with alternating rounds of foursomes (alternate shot) and four-ball (best ball).

Ongoing updates and event information will be shared on the tournament’s website at www.dowchampionship.com.
