Consumers Energy Will Make Overnight Upgrade in Mount Pleasant, Temporarily Interrupting Service to 384 Customers

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich., Aug. 13, 2025 – Consumers Energy is alerting Mount Pleasant residents that it will be interrupting power to 384 homes and businesses starting at 1:30 a.m. Thursday for just over three hours. The work is being done to make critical upgrades to equipment in a local substation.

“We want our customers to know we appreciate their patience,” said Chris Laird, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric distribution operations. “We never want to interrupt service to our customers, but need to so do to ensure the safety of our equipment and, more important, the people we serve. Our team has arranged an overnight outage as to not interrupt them any more than absolutely necessary.”

The 384 customers will be affected from 1:30 to 4:45 a.m. Thursday. The work will generally affect customers north of Pickard Street, south of E. Baseline Road, east of S. Crawford Road and west of U.S. 127.

Customers should call Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050 if they have questions or concerns.
