MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Art Reach of Mid Michigan is inviting artists and art lovers to downtown Mt. Pleasant for a day of live art, shopping, and creativity during Artists Battle 2026 and the inaugural Artists Market on Saturday, August 29.
From 1 to 3 pm, artists will compete in Artists Battle, a live art competition where participants create an original artwork while spectators watch the creative process unfold. The competition is open to artists working in any medium and features three age divisions: Youth (12 and under), Teen (13-17), and Adult (18+). Finished artworks will be evaluated by two jurors, with prizes awarded in each category. The jurors (aka judges) will be Valeria Allen and Andrea Croft.
New this year, Art Reach is also hosting an Artists Market from noon to 4 pm along Broadway. The outdoor market offers artists, makers, and young entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase and sell their work while connecting with the community.
Vendor spaces are available for $20 and are open to participants of all ages. Artists are encouraged to sell original artwork, handmade goods, baked treats, and other creative products. All food vendors must comply with Michigan's Cottage Food Law.
Both events will take place on Broadway between Main Street and University Avenue, creating a vibrant arts destination in the heart of downtown Mt. Pleasant.
"Artists Battle has always been a celebration of creativity in action," said Amy Powell, Executive Director of Art Reach of Mid Michigan. "Adding the Artists Market allows even more artists to participate while giving the community the opportunity to shop local, discover talented makers, and experience a full day dedicated to the arts."
Artists Market vendors are provided with a 10-foot by 10-foot space and are responsible for bringing their own tables, chairs, pop-up tents, and display materials. Because vendor spaces are located on asphalt, tents cannot be staked and must be secured with weights.
Registration is now open for both Artists Battle competitors and Artists Market vendors. Space is limited, and advance registration is encouraged.
In the event of inclement weather, both events will be held on Sunday, August 30.
