The Athena Leadership Award is presented to an individual who is honored for excellence, community service and supporting women to reach their full leadership potential.   The Athena Committee is seeking nominations for Gratiot County’s 29th Annual Athena Award.  Help us honor more deserving mentors this year!
The Athena Celebration Luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at the Masonic Pathways Doig Chapel in Alma.   Supporting, developing and honoring women leaders, the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce has been honoring women business leaders for almost 30 years. 
Athena Nominees must:

  • Have achieved the highest level of professional excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession; and
  • Contribute time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community; and
  • Actively assist others, particularly women, in realizing their full leadership potential.
  • Reside or work in Gratiot County.
Nominations must be submitted using the Nomination Form.
  • Nomination forms can be found at https://gacc.gratiot.org/annual-athena-awards/ or by contacting Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce office at (989) 463-5525.
  • Nominations must be accompanied by 3 letters of recommendation.
  • Nominee’s successes should be both work-related and related to improving our community.
  • information submitted should support the award criteria of achievement, leadership, and service. More details are included on the nomination form.

Event sponsorship information and to purchase tickets for the celebration is available at https://gacc.gratiot.org/annual-athena-awards/  or by  contacting the Gratiot Area Chamber at 989- 463-5525.  Tickets are $15 and are also available at the door.  Marita Hattem-Schiffman, 2023 Athena Recipient and president of MyMichigan Health Medical Centers in Alma, Mt. Pleasant and Clare, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.  We are excited to have as the Keynote Speaker this year Jennifer Siefker, 2024 Athena Recipient and Executive Vice President of USPP-Tri Lakes, LLC, who will also be announcing this year’s Athena.
