Men Invited to Sharpen Health Skills at Aiming for Wellness Event

The MyMichigan Health Foundation, in collaboration with Central Michigan University College of Medicine’s medical students, will host “Aiming for Wellness: A Men’s Health Event” on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The event will be held at Valhalla Indoor Axe Throwing, located at 1711 S. Mission Street in Mt. Pleasant, and supports the Men’s Health Fund at MyMichigan Health Foundation

Aiming for Wellness welcomes men of all ages, as well as their partners, wives, sisters or other loved ones, to participate in an engaging evening that combines axe throwing with valuable health insights. Attendees can engage in casual conversations with a variety of experts in men’s health topics, such as heart health, mental well-being, fitness, and nutrition.

“We’re bringing men together in a setting that’s fun, welcoming, and packed with real-world tips they can use right away,” said Becky Church, director, MyMichigan Health Foundation. “While this event is free to attend, every dollar raised supports our Men’s Health Fund, helping uninsured or underinsured men access the care they need, whether it’s preventive screenings, follow-up visits or other essential services.”

The Men’s Health Fund at MyMichigan Health Foundation helps remove financial barriers to essential care for men in our community. With support from generous sponsors and attendees, the Foundation aims to build sustainable resources for men’s health education and services.

“Too many men put off their health until there’s a crisis,” said Tom Albrecht, men’s health advocate and event committee member. “This event makes it easy to start the conversation, get reliable information, and take simple steps that can make a big difference. We’re proud to encourage men to show up for themselves and for the people who count on them.”

Participants will have the chance to engage with experts, addressing personal health questions and learning about ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The event is free, and registration is not required.

The Foundation is seeking sponsorships, to become a sponsor visit www.mymichigan.org/menshealth to review the opportunities.
