MyMichigan Supports Employees with Innovative Earned Wage Access Program

MyMichigan Health has announced an innovative new benefit for its employees: the launch of an Earned Wage Access program. Accessed through Rain, a secure third-party vendor, the program allows employees to access a portion of their earned pay before the traditional payday. This benefit is designed to assist employees in managing everyday expenses or unexpected costs without being restricted by the bi-weekly pay cycle. The benefit will be available beginning Wednesday, Oct. 29.

“We know that at any given time changes can occur that could have a very real impact on our day-to-day lives. The addition of Earned Wage Access to our suite of benefits reinforces our dedication to supporting our employees when they need us most,” said Julie Ward, Ed.D., senior vice president and chief human resources officer, MyMichigan Health. “This new offering is just part of our commitment to enhancing the workplace by providing comprehensive benefits that support our employees’ well-being and financial health. It also reinforces MyMichigan’s dedication to be an employer of choice.”

The Earned Wage Access program offers several advantages to employees. It provides financial flexibility, helping employees manage day-to-day needs and emergencies. The convenience of early wage access also encourages employees to take on additional shifts. In addition, the benefit enhances job satisfaction and retention, facilitates better budgeting, minimizes costly loans and banking fees, and offers insights into daily earnings and account balances. The service is available at no cost to employees with a standard 1-to-3-day ACH transfer, while those opting for same-day fund access incur a nominal fee.

“The process for our employees will be simple. The product requires no changes to payroll operations or timekeeping. And, our employees can easily opt-in by downloading the Rain app or accessing it via the website, where they can view earnings, transaction history, and initiate fund transfers,” added Ward. “We believe this will be well received by our employees and we’re pleased to offer it to them.”
