Position:  Project Manager (HVAC/Plumbing)
Location:  Midland, MI

Primary Function:  Manage HVAC and Plumbing projects.  Develop and sustain client relationships.

  • Solidify & build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Manage project deliverables
  • Billing Scheduling 
  • Submittal and closeout process 
  • Project coordination including RFI’s and coordination drawings
  • Manpower control
  • Manage and successfully close construction contracts within the gross margins established by management
  • Coordinate manpower as required with other projects in the Company
  • Budgeting and cost control
  • Develops and delivers project related client presentations
  • Proactively pursues additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available in-house and external training 
  • Actively participates in meetings (in-person and on-line), initiatives, and projects that support department and firm-wide goals 
  • Meets technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary and client service objectives for each project
  • May periodically act as Quality Control reviewer on projects 
  • Consistent on-site attendance is a requirement of the job.  Work from the main office. 
  • Requires some travel within the State of Michigan; remote field assignments are not anticipated.

Qualifications:
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to present concepts to various audiences
  • Ability to work independently
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software
  • Must have strong customer service skills
  • Ability to implement and oversee technologies such as BIM and LEAN principles 
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills 
Education and/or Experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or 10 years of field experience in mechanical construction – plumbing and/or HVAC only 
  • Accredited 4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management and a minimum of 8-10 years related experience
  • Minimum 4 years verifiable Project Management experience working in the areas of commercial HVAC and Plumbing
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.  Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Work Environment:
The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. 
When working on construction sites, will be required to wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, or hard hats. On site activities may include, but is not limited to, significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces and, in general, is overall physically demanding

The noise level in the office is quiet and at job sites it is usually loud
Reports to the Main Office. Requires visits to Construction sites. Requires some travel within the state of Michigan, but remote field assignments are not anticipated.

Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
