DESCRIPTION:Businesses and community members are invited to a luncheon on Tuesday October 8 from 11:30 am   1 pm featuring special guest speaker George Zimmerman\, Vice President of Travel Michigan and director of the Pure Michigan  campaign. The Pure Michigan campaign\, created in 2006\, has helped showcase Michigan as a national tourism destination.\n\n\n\nIn August 2007\, The Travel Industry Association of America bestowed its highest award for a state tourism office on Travel Michigan\, recognizing the Pure Michigan  campaign with a Mercury Award as the best state tourism advertising campaign in America.\n\n\n\nThe highly successful ad campaign helped lead George Zimmermann to be named State Tourism Director of the Year in 2011 by The National Council of State Tourism Directors (NCSTD).  Zimmermann is the first Michigan tourism director to receive this recognition\, and he is the only person to be awarded the honor twice. He previously won the award in 1997\, while serving as Ohio's director of tourism.\n\n\n\nThe Pure Michigan campaign had its biggest impact to date in 2012\, attracting 3.8 million out-of-state visitors to the state.  $79.1 million in new state tax revenues were generated as a result of the $1.1 billion spent by these visitors at Michigan businesses.\n\n\n\nJoin us to learn more about the Pure Michigan  campaign and how you can get involved!\n\n\n\nLuncheon Tickets are $30 each and will take place at the Comfort Inn & Suites Hotel and Conference Center.\n\n\n\n*All registrations are final.
